THREE RADIO MYSTERIES Volume Two

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Patricia Routledge, Julia McKenzie, et al.

Mystery & Suspense/ Audio Theater • 1.5 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2002

Radio writer-director Dirk Maggs puts his considerable talents to work in these adaptations of three Agatha Christie stories, originally broadcast in 2002. The acting in all three audio-dramas is spectacular. Miriam Margolyes's performance in WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION is so effective that it becomes part of the plot and solution of the mystery. Other stories include GATES OF BAGHDAD, featuring one of Dame Christie's lesser-known detectives, Parker Pyne, and THE HOUND OF DEATH, in which a nun is haunted by a supernatural force. Each of these productions is done without benefit of narration, an approach that can be confusing in an aural medium. But effective use of sound effects and acoustics gives the listener a sense of being part of the story. S.E.S.
