STARRING ME AS THIRD DONKEY

A modernized play about Samson and Delilah brings out comical behavior in pupils and teachers. Emma shocks herself by really wanting to play Delilah, and she's disappointed when her best friend lands the part. Narrator Kate Harbour is super, presenting delightful girls and boys and eccentric teachers. She's especially humorous as Mrs. Rogers, an older teacher who surprises Emma with her ability to have everyone towing the line. Harbour's school custodian and the teacher who makes papier maché cacti (for the play) wonderfully round out the story. The girls' friendship is also tried as Kate gets the first boyfriend.
