SACRED SEASONS OF HASHEM

by | Read by James D. Tabor

Philosophy & Religion • 1.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2005

Professor Tabor lectures on the nature of sacred time in the Hebrew worldview. He anchors the lecture with an explication of a single verse from Genesis, then links that verse to other passages about time in the Bible, placing all of this within the context of Jewish history and theology. His scholarship is evident and sweeping, but his interpretations, by his own account, take a minority perspective. The talk has a casual tone, and Tabor's voice is relaxed. He refers to handouts, shared readings, and past discussions. He also rambles a bit. While all points eventually tie back to the concept of sacred time, listeners may not always be sure where Tabor is going. G.T.B. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 07/ JAN 08]
