Listeners will enjoy revisiting this story of smuggling, murder, and youthful romance, set in a student hostel in southern England. Hugh Fraser, whom many listeners know as Captain Hastings in the Hercule Poirot TV series, does an admirable job of presenting the story’s cast of international students, as well as the Greek hostel owner and assorted other characters. Fraser's depiction of the great Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, is well delivered and convincing. What’s more, his portrayal of an American female student is particularly apt, not an easy feat for an Englishman. It’s always a pleasure to listen to a Christie puzzle when it’s narrated with such style. D.L.G. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 07]
