MR. CHICKEE'S MESSY MISSION

Joe Holt engages young listeners with the second adventure of the Flint Future Detectives. Steven, one of the three future detectives, competes in singing and shoveling snow with an elderly neighbor. He raps as the old woman belts out her own version of "John Henry" and then clobbers him before he can win. Joe Holt maintains character differentiation and builds drama as he portrays the eccentric cast of characters with accents and attitudes. Negotiating leaps from reality to fantasy, Holt keeps the story clear as the three detectives are transported to a magical place and become involved with a mission to save the world.
