A SOUND LIKE THUNDER

Set in an Alabama fishing town at the outset of WWII, this coming-of-age story features Rove MacNee. On the day of his precious Grannie's funeral, Rove witnesses his father's brutal attack on a German neighbor. In time, Rove wonders whether the attack was motivated by patriotism or his father's suspicion of his mother's relationship with the man. Steven Boyer provides a neutral voice for this Southern story but adds a lilting drawl for Rove's budding love interest, Anna Pearl. Boyer's introspective tone is suitable for Rove's sentimental exploration of his life and his joy for his boat and the local waterways.
