THE UNLUCKIEST BOY IN THE WORLD

by | Read by Glen McCready

Children Ages 8+ • 3.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1883

Poor Nicholas Frith becomes the victim of an ancient curse as he and his mother vacation in Spain. Friends abandon him, and schools expel him. Narrator Glen McCready is magnificent as he introduces the Spaniards who try to help with the spell, Nicholas's new friend, Fiona, and a school principal who obligingly redesigns his school to accommodate the curse. McCready successfully projects fear by using fast and dramatic Spanish, which is not necessary to understand. An Indian psychic helps Nicholas eventually overcome the spell. An excellent choice for young mystery buffs, this unusual story presents young listeners with dramatic examples of characters overcoming obstacles.
