INNOCENT IN DEATH

Susan Ericksen embraces the role of New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas and delivers powerful secondary characters of both genders and varying ages. Dallas is portrayed as bright, attractive, and imaginative as she hunts the killer of a seemingly ordinary grade-school history teacher. With a hearty Irish brogue, Roarke, Dallas's husband, is convincingly portrayed as engaging and sexy. When Roarke's former mistress arrives, her duplicity and petty intrigues are skillfully exposed with careful pacing and understatement. Both the murder and the love story come together in the final stunning scenes, in which Dallas realizes she's dealing with unfathomable evil.
