THE TRAIL TO PEACH MEADOW CANYON

by | Read by Jim Gough

Western • 3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1949

Narrator Jim Gough's unmistakable Texas twang sets the stage for another L'Amour classic. As is usually the case with L'Amour characters, hero Mike Bastian is tough and principled (even though, in this case, his father raised him to be an outlaw), and heroine Drusilla is strong and beautiful. Gough's narration requires a significant initial adjustment from listeners—his accent is strong, and he truly sounds like a cowhand. But once that adjustment is made, it's easy enough to slip into L'Amour's Wild West of creaking saddles and pungent campfires and imagine characters who can fight their way out of rawhide ropes and track a villain over the hardest terrain.
