BLAZE OF SILVER

In Grant's adventurous finish to the trilogy launched with BLOOD RED HORSE, Maggie Mash's high-pitched voice carries off some characters better than others. A whiny teen, who is about to be sent off to a convent, is perfectly annoying--until she appears in the German court to argue for the life of her beloved William de Granville. Will is attempting to deliver the ransom for England's King Richard, who is being held hostage by the German emperor. Less than convincing as Crusade-weary veterans, Mash is far better at delivering the clash of battle and the exhausting journeys of Will and the now-famed horse Hosana as they try to rescue King Richard from an assassination plot.
