While this is a minor Evanovich suspense (written with co-writer Banks), narrator Lorelei King makes it as fresh and original as Evanovich’s popular Stephanie Plum series. Cate Madigan, college student by day, South Boston bartender by night, undertakes the search for her missing roommate, Marty, a drag queen. She's aided by her wild but lovable Irish family and by Kellen McBride, ex-cop, bar regular, and irresistible lover. King pushes the fast action with impeccable professionalism, making each member of a large cast of characters distinctive, colorful, often hilarious, sexy, and romantic. King even manages to reign in the helter-skelter ending, which stretches credibility a bit, so that it's all a fun romp. M.T.B. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 07]
