The BBC launched "Doctor Who," the popular science-fiction television show, in 1963. This installment, "The Crusades," features the first of the nine doctors, William Hartnell. This forty-year-old episode takes place in twelfth-century Palestine, where the time-travelers are involved in a tale of intrigue, deception, and murder. The only challenge for listeners is the clarity of the audio. As the original broadcast was made before digital sound, the audio quality is uneven and, at times, nearly inaudible. However, true "Doctor Who" fans will not let poor sound quality stop them from enjoying this classic. M.R.E. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 07/ JAN 08]
