In recent years the Weis-Hickman team has penned many fantasy series to augment the world of the original, ground-breaking DRAGONLANCE trilogy. As a fill-in volume, this title is less developed than the originals, but all the famous and favored characters are featured prominently. The moderate weakness in the prose is exacerbated by Burr's reading. She handles the narrative in a rushed, disinterested way. While Burr shows more strength in her character voices—especially those of the dragons—she doesn’t give each character different personalities through inflection or speech pattern. The heroes sound identical to the villains, and Burr's rendition of the supporting story seems detached, as well. Lovers of the DRAGONLANCE series may enjoy the voices of their imaginations more than those in this production. A.H.A. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 08]
