The story's prologue introduces us to a child who hears terrified voices in her head. Twelve years later we meet the grown-up Megan Blair, and we learn that her mother has been murdered by a Sicilian named Molino because he blames her psychic powers for the loss of his son. Now her mother's gifts are awakening in Megan, and Molino is after her. Romance, paranormal experiences, and suspense mingle with mystery as Megan sets off to use her powers to better the condition of all who are like her.
