LUCKY BASTARD

by | Read by Tom Weiner

Mystery & Suspense • 14.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1998

Tom Weiner does a credible job reading this cynical novel about a charismatic, bed-hopping politician, aptly named John (Jack) Fitzgerald Adams, who believes he is the illegitimate son of John F. Kennedy. While attending Columbia University during the Vietnam War, Jack is recruited by Dmitri, a former KGB colonel, and dumped into the hands of his diabolical superior, who plans for him to become the U.S. president. Weiner’s talent for accents is frequently used, and his deadpan presentation adds to the satire created by McCarry. Weiner has some difficulty distinguishing the many male characters, but in general his presentation suits the pace and promise of this thriller.
