CLOSE CALL

When everyone is settled into their homes on a brand new cul-de-sac, the disparate neighbors decide to have a get-acquainted party. All seems to go well despite vast differences. Fun is had by all until the host is found dead in his yard. Skeletons suddenly begin falling out of the new closets, and EVERYONE becomes a suspect. Narrator Gareth Armstrong is splendid at giving Gregson's fine description and dialogue a perfect portrayal. Accents, wordplay, irony, and humor add to the pleasure. A moving subplot is depicted as Inspector Hook and his wife face their young son's grave illness. The outstanding Lambert and Hook series will be enjoyed by mystery and non-mystery fans both.
