RING AND DIE

Julia Barrie’s breezy but firm British intonations perfectly mesh with the misadventures of Whitelaw’s feisty and zany PI, Jordan Lacey. The story offers charming glimpses of coastal village life, where the crimes include stolen pedigreed Chihuahuas, a missing cache of diamonds, the murder of a fisherman, and a car insurance scam. All of these keep the action, humor, and romance flowing. Barrie provides clear, distinctive voices for Jordan and DI James, as well as the many villagers. Fans of this likable series will easily identify Jordan through Barrie’s energetic characterization. With RING AND DIE, Barrie proves her capabilities as a talented, versatile narrator. S.C.A.
