Psychologist Douglas Mason and writer Spencer Smith provide insights about how the human brain processes memory but offer little else of merit. Erik Singer's narration is smooth and professional as he captures authors' witty, often tongue-in-cheek, style. But despite the promise of its subtitle, this book offers little advice more original than "relax" and "pay attention." The discussion of the possible effects on memory of herbal supplements and prescription medications is overlong and out of sync with the style of the rest of the audiobook. Promoted as an "enhanced CD," the only enhancement is a PDF list of medications that may have an effect on memory. In all, listening to THE MEMORY DOCTOR is hardly memorable.
