Even though narrator Sean Mangan was born in England, raised in Canada, and ended up in Australia, he successfully replicates a New England accent for this thriller, which takes place near Boston. Because of Mangan's clear and precise reading, the listener is able to make sense of this story about the apprehension of serial killers. First, there's the "Lakeshore Killer," who does all his dirty work near water. Next comes the copycat, who emulates the psychopath. On top of it all, there's the band of mercenaries who beat the FBI in finding and disposing of the multiple evildoers. Throughout the story, it's hard to tell who's good and who's bad. In the end, however, FBI Special Agent Sarah Reilly sorts it all out. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2008]
