BEWARE! KILLER TOMATOES

This goofy title attracts attention, especially from boys. Author Jeremy Strong never lets up, despite this book's setting—a hospital. When Jack Lemming causes a pyramid of canned tomatoes (intended for a contest) to topple, he's sure he’s killed someone. In escaping, he breaks his leg and must lie in traction. Narrator Paul Chequer excels as he creates rambunctious kids, bossy nurses, and worried parents. When Jack meets a girl who's in the hospital for the seventh time, he encourages her, and he also helps plot antics with other fellow patients.
