JUMPING THE LINE

For anyone interested in a chronicle of twentieth-century leftwing causes, William Herrick's JUMPING THE LINE is a must. Herrick is a self-described American radical for whom dogmatic belief in the workers' revolution was instilled with his mother's milk. He describes the events that led him to fight fascism in the Spanish Civil War, his eventual disillusionment with the Communist Party, his capacity for union organizing and his ordeals during the McCarthy witch hunt.
