Personal Growth • 11 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2008

Ganser and Rogers do a splendid job delivering the first-person case studies and much of the commentary in this state-of-the-art health presentation. The sections read by principal author Agatston are less enjoyable, but they do connect listeners with his helpful intent and personal story. The advice is to start with a two-week crash diet aimed at rapid weight loss, then move to a more relaxed period aimed at slower losses, and then to a maintenance phase that involves habits that should last a lifetime. Choosing good carbs and good fats helps maintain optimal blood sugar and reduce inflammation--key factors in many illnesses and cravings. This practical and warm guide encourages the everyday adjustments necessary to feeling better more of the time. T.W. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2008]
