This timely series features four great kids, a mother who is absent from home, and a commendable dad and grandmother. Christmas is nigh, and with money in short supply the simple joys of the holiday must be appreciated. When baby brother Tor's beloved dog goes missing, panic and sorrow follow. Daniela Denby-Ashe captures children of many temperaments, as well as family members and teachers. She expertly depicts all the emotions of a large household during the holidays. It's refreshing to observe Ally's insights into how quickly things change is everyone's life. A moving ending gives hope and rounds out another gem from this author/narrator team.
