CHOCKY

by | Read by Sacha Dhawan, Owen Teale, Cathy Tyson

Audio Theater • 1.5 hrs. • Audio Program • © 1953

This radio drama, which originally aired in 1967, has aged very well. The story is about a boy, Matthew Gore, who hears a voice in his head that continually asks questions. He calls the voice Chocky. His family members, concerned about his apparent conversations with no one, ask questions of their own and are finally forced to come to grips with the fact that the voice really exists. Young Gore is played by the talented Sacha Dhawan. But the voice that still echoes in one's mind long after listening is over is that of Catherine Hunt, who plays Chocky. The ethereal enhancements to her voice help make her sound positively otherworldly. S.D.D. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2008]
