Pfeffer's LIFE AS WE KNEW IT told the story of an asteroid hitting the moon and the impact of the horrific climate changes that resulted on a small Pennsylvania town. This sequel details the same events from a big-city perspective--that of teenager Alex Morales, who works in a pizza parlor in New York City. Narrator Robertson Dean brings his characteristic throaty tone to this science-fiction disaster story, providing a mood of suspense while capturing the essence of the characters as they battle for survival. Dean's pacing is perfect, never forced or rushed. Instead, he lets the story unfold slowly, bringing listeners carefully into Alex's world before flipping the switch and letting the action burst forth.
