Edvard Radzinsky has painstakingly researched and compiled this narrative, weaving first-person narrative, historical documentation, and myth, all made available because of glasnöst. David McCallum reads this complicated chapter in Russian history using little inflection or differentiation of characters. The scenes flow one into another as the listener attempts to attach names to personalities. Unlike a Russian novel, there is no list of characters and their nicknames; thus, it's difficult to remember who is who.
