This fast-moving whodunit finds the inner sanctum of the NEW YORK GLOBE suddenly involved in murder. Phil Gigante is a born raconteur. He pours vitality and spunk into rebellious reporter Jude Hurley and ambitious NYPD detective Priscilla Bollingsworth, who team up to solve the crimes as the victim count piles up. Gigante finds credible female voices for the detective and various reporters and uses variations on a New York accent to differentiate and give personalities to Darnton's other well-drawn characters. More than a mystery, this novel is a spot-on depiction of a chaotic big-time newsroom and the many ironies in the newspaper business.
