She also succeeds in making a handicapped character realistic and heroic without being maudlin. In addition, Evan's partially paralyzed boyfriend, her annoying cousin, her peculiar mother, and her tough father make a fascinating set of characters out to expose a killer before he/she completes a murder spree.
