LOSING JULIA

by | Read by Ralph Waite

Fiction • 5 hrs. • Abridged • © 2000

Anyone who has seen him on stage or screen knows that Ralph Waite (best known as television's Pa Walton) possesses a commanding presence, regardless of his role. His performance here is no exception. Narrating the bittersweet tale of lost love, Waite paints the set, scene and characters so that listeners cannot help but be swept up in their richness. Of course, much is due to the quality of Hull's text, which recalls the prose style of the early twentieth century. The story is more than a love story; it is a tale of what and who we immerse ourselves in during our short time on this earth. A tall order to fill, but Waite does it wonderfully.
