The scriptwriters made a mistake in changing fundamentals of the classic Conan Doyle dinosaur story. In making an elderly male professor into a young woman, they made the tape sound like a Grade B movie. In removing a few characters, they made it impossible for the listener to understand how the explorers' on-the-spot notes reached Great Britain. There are additional continuity and character problems. But the sound effects and music are well chosen, and the actors fill out their roles with believable ease, particularly Leonard Nimoy as an irascible newspaper editor. This was recorded before a live audience and then embellished for audio. D.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC/JAN 99]
