THE MAGISTRATE'S TALE

by | Read by Carole Boyd

Fiction • 8 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1995

Despite the Chaucerian title, this is a narrative about an unmarried middle-aged woman who runs a farm in England's west country and sits as a magistrate once a week. She takes on the responsibility of a foster child, and the story revolves around that fateful action and how it affects their rural community. The story is simply yet expertly read by Carole Boyd, an experienced narrator and radio star. With a less gifted reader this story might drag, but Boyd keeps us close to the characters she so beautifully portrays, and we come to care about all of them.
