OF ALL SAD WORDS

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by George Guidall

Mystery & Suspense • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2008

AUDIOFILE Golden Voice George Guidall takes listeners to fictional Blacklin County in east Texas for the fifteenth Sheriff Dan Rhodes novel by prolific Bill Crider. In spite of the maudlin title, OF ALL SAD WORDS is a funny, fast-paced yarn filled with snappy dialogue and hilarious situations. As Sheriff Rhodes faces reelection, he has to contend with a stray donkey in a car wash, a complaint of electricity-stealing UFOs, a possum infestation, a moonshine conspiracy, and a dead body near a burned-out trailer home. With his wry twists of voice and comic timing, Guidall is well matched to Crider's witty situations and the banter of his characters, all delivered in a believable Texas twang. Guidall, Crider, and Rhodes are a perfect trio in this highly recommended mystery. S.E.S. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2009]
