ANGEL CREEK

by | Read by Natalie Ross

Romantic Fiction • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1991

Natalie Ross's whispery, measured narration adds little to this tired novel. Lucas Cochran, the handsome and tough owner of the sprawling Double C cattle ranch, will do almost anything to have Dee Swann, an independent and determined woman who is surviving alone on her small farm. Angel Creek, which runs through her land, becomes both a blessing and a danger to Dee as a dry spell ensues and water becomes scarce for neighboring ranchers, including Lucas. Not surprisingly, sparks fly on a number of levels. Ross provides only minor differentiation in tone as she portrays the various characters, a choice that makes the listening experience dull. This offering from a talented writer is a clear miss. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2010]
