MCMUMMY

by | Read by George Guidall

Children • 3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1993

McMummy is a fantastic tale about a lonely, curious boy who discovers a human-sized vegetable pod in the greenhouse he tends. As usual, reader George Guidall superbly performs each role and brings offbeat characters to life. He wonderfully portrays the boy, Mozie, as his intitial fear of the pod is quickly replaced by empathy. Guidall's flexible baritone captures the essence of the other characters, as well: Mozie's best friend, Batty; the future beauty queen, Valvoline; and the German professor who aims to end world hunger. Guidall's pace, skill at building suspense and affinity for this story make this an excellent choice for audio. It's best suited for preteens but is fun for the entire family.
