Hap and Leonard are the most original couple since Nick and Nora Charles started sleuthing. Hap is an East Texas ex-con. Leonard is a gay African-American vet. Their longstanding friendship is challenged when Hap's toxic ex-girlfriend, Trudy, makes them an offer they should refuse: She’ll pay them a fortune to help her find some stolen money. Phil Gigante's narration is sensational. He sounds alarmingly female as Trudy, the scheming, sensual female, and, as Leonard, his deep, rumbling voice and sarcastic retorts are exactly right. Portraying Hap, he delivers the charming, puppy-like quality of this good-natured, tough cowboy with a social conscience. Joe R.
