RUMOR HAS IT

by | Read by Lyssa Brown

Romantic Fiction • 6 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1989

Katie Quaid, scarred in an accident years before, is reluctant to risk loving mysterious Nick Leone, who has moved to Virginia from New Jersey to open a restaurant. Lyssa Brown struggles with this ho-hum story about love overcoming all obstacles. Her portrayal of Nick misses the mark, making him sound more like a none-too-bright sidekick than the handsome, physically powerful but sensitive romantic lead he is described as. Her portrayals of the various characters who have Southern accents also miss the mark, making the males sound artificial and the females sound whiny or just plain irritating. All in all, a big let down for Hoag fans. A.C.P. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2009]
