If you don't believe Stephen Crane was reading James Fenimore Cooper at age 4, you will when you read the poetry he wrote at age 7. Linda Davis's succinct biography emphasizes the revolutionary nature of Crane's writing, produced at the same time the Victorian world was seeing a rebirth in art called Impressionism.
