WWII Women's Air Force Service pilot Pucci Lewis returns in this engaging series, this time on assignment in glamorous Hollywood. A training film is being muddled by men who are determined to make the female pilots appear sexy rather than competent, and Lewis arrives to intervene. More importantly, she’s also assigned to secretly investigate whether her predecessor's crash was sabotage, or perhaps even the work of the enemy. Narrator Christine Williams portrays Lewis's direct, personable manner with Rosie-the-Riveter resolve and capability. Although sprinkled with some stereotypical vocal caricatures, the narration is an enjoyable frolic in a time and place sparkling with glamour and intrigue. The story is peppered with details about the patriotic contributions of American women and the film industry in the 1940s. N.M.C. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2009]
