THE MOST WANTED

by | Read by Jacquelyn Mitchard

Fiction • 6 hrs. • Abridged • © 1998

In her latest audiobook since The Deep End of the Ocean, Jacquelyn Mitchard takes the helm as performer, as well as author. The incredible story of Arley Mowbray--a 14-year-old girl married to an outlaw--and her lawyer, Annie Singer, is an interesting juxtaposition of two different characters who, thrown together by chance, offer fulfillment in each other's lives. Mitchard shows her strength when she's reading as Arley in a soft Texan accent; it's the only time listeners don't hear her native Wisconsin dialect. (This is odd since the other main character is supposed to be from New York!) The Most Wanted is a good story and, accents aside, it's refreshing to hear an author read her own work.
