Mike Dooley's collection of aphorisms and advice does not prove accessible in the audio version. Undoubtedly, some of his advice may hit home to the occasional listener, but the audiobook as a whole lacks depth and cohesiveness. His instruction to just open to a random page and see what insight or proverb awaits is useless to listeners—even those with a "Random" option on their CD players. As a narrator, Dooley offers some excitement in the introduction, but when it comes times for the points of inspiration, his delivery ranges from overdramatic to dry and dull.
