I'LL CATCH THE SUN Memoirs and Musings of a Nudist

by | Read by Richard Langdon Cook

Contemporary Culture • 6 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2008

A rambling memoir and meditation upon whatever pops into the author's mind, especially his world travels, food, golf, and his life as a sun-worshiping nudist. The retired ad executive's writing is extremely uneven, from the self-indulgent and sententious to the witty and sparkling. Near the end, he yields the floor to his most recent wife in an extended radio interview about their favorite nudist resort. Though Cook's prose is by and large informal, vocally he's stuffily "r-trillingly" British. He impresses one, not so much as an authority on his subjects, but as one of those cheerful, loquacious seniors who love an audience and who never run out of words.
