THE STRANGER FROM HOME

Detective Inspector Jim Meldrum has his hands full. His estranged daughter has returned to Edinburgh from the United States after having impulsively married a man who later vanished under questionable circumstances. Meldrum is also busy searching for the missing—and presumed dead—wife of a philandering local businessman. Narrator Hilary Neville portrays the large cast of characters with an ease that belies the wide variety of regions from which they hail, including the American South and East Coast, as well as Scotland.
