A TASTE TO DIE FOR

by | Read by Patience Tomlinson

Mystery & Suspense • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2007

After winning (by cheating) the “best chef” competition in Bath, England, the chef is found dead. Honey Driver, the Hotels Association police liaison, works with DI Steve Doherty to solve the murder. When two more deaths follow, they have their work cut out to find the motive that connects the three. The dialogue is snappy and funny in this light mystery, especially between Holly and Steve, who are soon attracted to each other. Patience Tomlinson doesn't quite carry off the novel’s humor, but even more disappointing is her inability to accurately voice different accents. Her weakest points are her American accent and her mispronunciation of the city of La Jolla. Her Italian accents do not fare much better in this less-than-sterling narration.
