Archaeologist Rebecca Moray travels to an isolated Irish fishing village to conduct research on the region's textile artists. Since Rebecca is accompanied by her daughter, Rowan, narrator Emily Durante is faced with the challenge of voicing a child. Durante takes a rosy, wide-eyed approach to the youngster, a vocal choice that matches the overall tone set by Dickson. Rebecca, despite her academic accomplishments, often sounds delicate and fragile—a deft vocal subtlety that corresponds to Dickson's hints of abuse in Rebecca's past. Durante seals the performance with believable Irish accents, including a mean-spirited aging fisherman whose heart softens through friendship with Rowan.
