DRAGONQUEST

As she sets off to serve as apprentice to the wizard Fenworth, young Kale finds herself increasingly engrossed in an adventure that threatens to undo the land of Amara. Ellen Grafton shows great enthusiasm for the story she tells. In the manner of a storyteller at a fair, she reaches out to listeners and draws them into the thoughts and actions of the story’s protagonist. Grafton depicts Kale’s range of emotions as she grows beyond her insecurities and finds her strength while still maintaining her innocence and her conviction to succeed in her quest. The earlier story of how young Kale became a dragon keeper, recounted in the first book of this series, provides useful background to this follow-up.
