A 14-year-old slave girl named Kale finds a dragon egg, and her life is changed forever. Adventure begins as she learns to adjust to her new status and her new mission. Her journey through Amara brings her in contact with a variety of types of creatures. Ellen Grafton's narration is geared for young adults and delivered with great enthusiasm. At times of danger she sounds poised to see what happens next. Grafton’s voice preserves Kale’s innocence as she grows in confidence while maintaining her sense of wonder at the responsibilities she has assumed.
