The life of Assistant District Attorney Joshua Jin falls apart when his 13-year-old daughter dies of a heart condition and his marriage ends. He is assigned an impossible case involving a young teen who has been savagely raped and beaten. Jin, a Chinese-American, sorts out both the case and his personal life as he seeks the truth about what actually occurred. It's impossible not to get caught up in this emotional reading by Dick Hill. All characters are flawlessly voiced, including that of Rachel, the young victim. Both Hill's heart-rending portrayal of Rachel, as she tells in a hesitating and sobbing voice what happened to her, and his rendition of Jin's tears and laughter are utterly convincing and extraordinary.
