In this collection of articles, essays, and short stories, British author Martin Amis looks at the shock and implications of 9/11. Sometimes controversial, sometimes emotional, Amis examines the effects of the attack and how terrorism has changed the world. Written over a period of six years, the various works show the evolution of Amis’s and others' thinking about this event. Narrator Nick Sullivan gives an uninspired reading, enunciating every syllable and rendering the material devoid of any feeling. Sullivan slogs through these works without bringing them to life in any way. A collection of interesting reflections ends up being tedious.
