THE MOTE IN GOD'S EYE

Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle answer the question of what would happen if humans met an alien race. The reactions would be as varied as the individual humans and aliens alike. So there are no easy answers. Narrator L.J. Ganser makes the story easy to follow despite dozens of characters, from Earth and beyond. His masterful handling of accents—from a Scots brogue to a stiff Moscow accent—is impressive, and he also contends with the alien tongues of the Moties, which include purrs and clicks. The novel is slow to reveal its secrets but is written so well that the time passes as quickly as a spaceship using the Alderson Drive. To find out what that means, get the audiobook.
