THE BBC COLLECTION OF WAR POETRY

This collection of over eighty poems written by British poets and arranged in chronological order shows the impact of war, from battles in ancient times through the World Wars and the recent war in Bosnia. Some poems sing the glories of war, but most detail war's devastation on the battlefield, as well as the home front. The four readers, all acclaimed British actors, strike the right chords with their presentations, from sympathetic, like Spike Milligan's "The Soldiers at Lauro," to cynical, like "Lessons of War" by Henry Reed.
